Meet the Photog: 10 Things You Might Not Know About Me

Hi there! I'm Lindsay, a professional photographer in West Michigan with a focus on wedding and family photography. I absolutely love playing with light in my images and I strive to make every experience enjoyable for my clients. If you're curious about my work, let me share a bit about my background with you!

1. I am originally from Utah. My family and I moved to Michigan from Las Vegas in the summer of 2023 as part of my husband's medical training. At the time, we had a 1-year-old goldendoodle and a 3-month-old baby girl--it was a lot, I'm not going to lie! We immediately fell in love with Michigan and the beautiful green summers. The winters, though? Not so much.

2. I have a staggering number of creative hobbies. My extended family is extremely creative, so I've dabbled in practically everything: sewing, cross-stitching, painting, writing, jewelry-making, singing, playing the piano, knitting, decorating, quilt-making, scrapbooking, digital art, you name it!

3. I get a little weepy when I see pretty sunsets. It's true. Nature make me cry and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Granted, I also cry watching Bluey with my daughter. And while singing emotional Broadway songs.

4. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from Utah State University. Interior design was my first love, but my life circumstances have made it difficult to practice for a few years. I hope to return to it one day, but photography has become my newest and dearest love!

The infamous "A" where students could become True Aggies💋

5. I'm ridiculously sentimental. I have a cabinet that is filled exclusively with knick-knacks and papers I've collected over the years. There is something to be said about pulling out an old school ID and feeling all the old vibes that came with it. I also keep sentimental treasures from family members, like dog tags from my grandpa's army days and a gold ring from my great grandma. It makes me feel like I carry a little piece of them with me.

6. I'm obsessed with Broadway musicals. Picture Carpool Karaoke...but with just me.

7. I played competition softball for 10 years. It was my whole life growing up. I miss it all the time and look forward to the day when I'll (hopefully) be able to coach my own daughter.

Yes, that's me! My primary positions were pitcher and first base.

8. I love traveling to big cities. I know it seems a bit backwards to visit a busy place for a relaxing vacation, but I feel so at home among skyscrapers and bustling streets. It started when I went to New York for the first time in college. Beautiful old buildings give me the chills. (But don't get me wrong - I would sell my soul for a summer house at Lake Tahoe.)

A favorite photo I took from the top of l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

9. I'm a novice gardener. After buying our first house when we moved to Michigan, I went absolutely nuts with flowers. I grew up helping my parents in their garden and it has always been a goal of mine to have a photo-worthy yard. There's nothing I love more than spending warm summer nights outside amongst the flowers.

10. I'm a published author. As of 2024 when I wrote this post, I only had one book officially published: An Absolute Bloody Disaster. However, I'm working on the sequel and have an entire fantasy world planned out for another series! Here's my shameless plug if you like young adult romance 😘 Follow me on Instagram! @novelitica
